Twitter announced yesterday that they are launching a new user interface similar to Facebook, which they have been working on for a while.

A larger header and profile picture, and left-justified biography section draws the eye, and makes the new design strikingly similar to Facebook’s layout.

There are also some great new features that will highlight some key content. Best Tweets, the Tweets that have received more engagement will appear slightly larger and Pinned Tweets will stay visible at the top of the profile page.

Although it’s now available for only small amount of users, it will soon be rolled out for everyone.

Update: The new Twitter layout is available to everyone, starting from 23rd of April.

Hot tip: Twitter backgrounds will no longer be visible on profile pages, so social media marketers need to carry their marketing and brand messages to the headers.
